Posada of Peace and Solidarity with the People
of the World: Richmond, December 18, 2004

Right: Councilmember-elect Gayle McLaughlin shared her vision of an alternative Richmond which she affirmed has started to take place. She thanked the fellow RPA members and supporters for all the work done in 2004 and she welcomed the opportunity that the Richmond Posada offered to connect with many People's struggles around the world. Another Richmond is Possible! Another world is possible!

Left: Richmond Progressive Alliance member Andres Soto and son Che Soto shared the enthusiasm of their upcoming trip to Porto Alegre, Brazil. They will be attending the Global Social Forum in early February. Among the people of the world seeking solutions for a better world there will be a fine delegation of Richmonders and RPA members.

Center: Malia Everrette, officer of the RPA, reports on the preparations for a trip to the Iraq-Jordan border to deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of Felujah, Iraq. Malia is traveling with Code Pink-Women for Peace. The trip was organized with the support of the human rights organization Global Exchange. Over $100,000 in medicines will be delivered, including over $700 collected at the RPA Richmond Posada of Peace and Solidarity. End the WAR! End the Occupation! End the Pillage!

Right: Dr. Henry Clark, of the West County Toxics Coalition, reported on his recent trip to Venezuela where he attended the "World Meeting of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humankind". He also shared his impression of the valiant Venezuelan People who fought back US aggression and reversed in the streets and in the ballot boxes the coup d'état against president Hugo Chavez and the democratic Bolivarian Revolution.

Left: Dr. Jeff Reytterman, chief of cardiology at Kaiser Richmond, and part of the delegation of health professionals traveling to the Iraq-Jordan border with medicines for Felujah.

Center: Psychologist Dr. Vivian Feyer, of the delegation of health professionals traveling to the Iraq-Jordan border with medicines for Felujah. She asked the audience what messages they had for the people of Iraq.

Right: Fred Jackson, Richmond resident and singer extraordinaire delighted the audience with one of his inspirational songs: This song reflected on the small steps we all take to grow and move forward , in spite of falls and difficulties.

Left: Sister Stella Goodpasture and Richmond activists Marilyn Langlois shared with the Posada audience the experiences of their recent (October, 2004) trip to Haiti. They asked the residents of Richmond not to forget their brothers and sisters in occupied Haiti who are resisting the US engineered coup and fighting for the restoration of their democratically elected government.

Center: Antonio Medrano, likely candidate to the West Contra Costa Unified School District in 2006, had a few comments on the importance of fairness and justice everywhere.

Right: Nagajara Rao, Richmond resident and RPA supporter congratulated the RPA for the amazing accomplishments of the year 2004 and sang a song for peace for all in Sancript.
