Bookkeeper Job Description
Richmond Progressive Alliance (RPA) has the explicit goal of taking political decision making back from corporations and putting power in the hands of people. The RPA mobilizes people in support of progressive policies and candidates, often in alliance with other local groups.
The job as set forth below is for a paid part-time bookkeeper for the RPA. The work of the bookkeeper will be directed by the RPA Treasurer and the Finance and Governance Committee. This role is a part time staff position. Work is to be performed remotely utilizing hardware and software provided by the RPA. The job is between 20-30 hours a month.
Duties:
- Open mail and process all cash receipts, including entering check transactions into Nation Builder
- Make bank deposits
- Support with grant administration
- Monitor Nation Builder automatic transfers of dues and donations into the Mechanics Bank checking account
- Make monthly transfer from PayPal and record in checkbook
- Onboarding new contractors
- Supporting staff and volunteers with financial tracking
- Maintain RPA Mechanics Bank checkbook balance including automatic debits
- Reconcile monthly MB statements
- Prepare all check payments and get them signed before mailing
- Enter all financial transactions into the Google Sheets Month by Month Financial Report and share with the Treasurer on a regular basis
- Track grant expenditures
- Create monthly report for review
- Prepare annual 1099 forms and distribute them
- Running Payroll and pay contractors using PayPal when appropriate
- Enter all financial transactions into the Google Sheets Month by Month Financial Report
- Attend monthly Finance and Governance Committee Meetings and any other relevant financial meetings.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience
- Knowledge of and experience with Excel/Google Sheets
Term of Agreement:
- Status- part time staff
- Location- remote
- Rate- $40/hour
