Conversation Rules for RPA Podcast
Mission
The Richmond Progressive Alliance (RPA) is an independent grassroots organization that advocates for the interests of working-class people.
We refuse contributions from corporate donors. Instead, we mobilize large numbers of people to fight for social justice, economic equality, health, environmental protection, and democracy.
RPA strategically aligns with Bay Area and national community-based associations. We also endorse elected officials who share our values.

- Approach the conversation with respect and consideration for your host and greater community. The goal of the podcast is to educate, inform, and empower others.
- Your choice of language, tone, and delivery matter. Our audience includes families, children, and diverse groups of people.
- Do not interrupt others when speaking.
- Do not use the podcast as an opportunity to lecture. We will provide ample ways for you to share supplemental information.
How are podcast conversations structured?
We host podcasts in a narrative format to engage with a diverse audience in the city of Richmond.
How long should my answers be?
Keep your answers brief and to the point. 15-30 seconds is enough and will keep the conversation moving smoothly.
What topics should I avoid?
Focus on the specific topics of the podcast. The podcast host will reach out to you with the items that you will cover during the conversation. We reserve the right to edit content that is off-base from the topics previously agreed upon before recording.
RPA’s Statement on Diversity
We are One Human Family: We believe in racial equality, and we respect diversity.
- We advocate for the unity of all peoples to ensure our common needs.
- We defend the equal rights of people without regard to color, sex, age, diversity of cultural backgrounds, sexual orientation, and physical abilities.
- We advocate and work for an end to institutionalized oppression and for equality of opportunity in participation in civic, economic, and political life of those who have been historically excluded.
- We criticize patriarchy. We believe sexism hurts everyone and we recognize the systemic super-exploitation of women systemically. We insist that women must have control over their bodies and must never be treated as second-class citizens in our organization and in our city. We call for an end to LGBTQ discrimination.
- We call for an end to racial discrimination and we believe that conversations to resolve reparations are necessary.
- We support specific programs to address the special needs of marginalized communities, the demands of BLM, interpretation, and Spanish speaking government staff, protecting the heritage of indigenous people, campaigns against anti-Asian violence, etc.
