The RPA Education Institute Project (EIP) provides radical education and grassroots training to Richmond residents, so they can exert collective power within and outside the political process towards social, economic, environmental and racial justice. The project builds on RPA's fifteen years of successful struggle against Chevron and other corporations who wish to direct policy in a way that adversely affects our residents.
RPA-EIP activities will take place through regular membership meetings, which take place every 2-3 months at the Bobby Bowens Progressive Center (BBPC), as well as regular public events held here and throughout the community. Our programming builds grassroots power by collaborating with Richmond’s long-standing progressive organizations, while supporting new and emerging ones through networking, training and use of our Bobby Bowens Progressive Center. The BBPC, which is an anchor community meeting and work space, is made available to groups for convenings and work events at no charge or for a sliding scale donation.
2018 RPA-EIP activities include an Earth Day environmental justice forum, an August boards and commissions trainingto help shift the role from advisor to activist and an October youth engagement event focused on voter registration.
